After mesh repair of inguinal hernia, it is very common to feel discomfort for a few days. Mostly, the pain resolves when wounds and tissues heal with time. Some people may suffer hernia mesh pain that can last from several months to years. In such a case, you must speak to your surgeon about it.

While you can go home the same day of hernia repair surgery, some may have to stay at the hospital for one day. After surgery, you may be able to do basic activities within two weeks. Avoid workout during the recovery period. Your body needs at least five or six weeks' rest to recover completely. Well, this does not mean proper bed rest. You can start walking or jogging after some days of inguinal hernia surgery. 

Pain is quite obvious with mesh material, which is a piece of polypropylene plastic that supports weakened tissue. Still, if you notice severe symptoms such as burning sensation, pain during intercourse, and persistent pain, you must consult with your doctor or surgeon immediately.
